Our office uses iTero® digital scanning to view three-dimensional images of the inside of your mouth. iTero digital imaging is a state-of-the-art technology that captures high-quality images of your teeth and supporting structures, making it easy for our dentists and team to diagnose problems and provide effective treatments. The iTero scanner captures up to 20 images per second in full colour, allowing us to easily distinguish between healthy and diseased tissue, build accurate digital models of your mouth, and create appliances and restorations that fit and function better. iTero technology can even simulate your treatment outcome to show you what your end result should look like!

When our dentists or hygiene team scan your mouth, a small wand will be used to quickly and comfortably scan the inside of your mouth. As the wand passes over your teeth, the images captured will be processed simultaneously to provide an immediate, complete and highly accurate image of your mouth. The pictures are even saved automatically every few seconds, so there is no need for you to sit through a second scan.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of using a digital scanner in dental clinics?

A digital scanner offers several benefits, including improved patient comfort, reduced chair time, eliminating messy traditional impressions, enhanced accuracy, seamless integration with CAD/CAM systems, and a faster turnaround for dental restorations.

Can a digital scanner be used for Invisalign treatment?

Yes, a digital scanner is commonly used for Invisalign treatment. It allows for precise digital impressions of the teeth, which are used to create custom-made, clear aligners for orthodontic treatment.

How does a dental X-ray scanner differ from a digital scanner?

A dental X-ray scanner, or a dental X-ray machine or sensor, captures 2D radiographic images of the teeth and surrounding structures. In contrast, a digital scanner captures detailed 3D images of the teeth for restorative and orthodontic purposes, eliminating the need for traditional impressions.

What is a digital scanner in oral scanner dentistry?

A digital scanner is used in dental clinics to capture detailed 3D images of teeth and oral structures. It replaces traditional impressions with more accurate and efficient dental procedures.

How does a digital scanner work in a dental clinic?

A digital scanner uses advanced imaging technology, such as structured light or laser scanning, to capture precise digital impressions of the teeth. The scanner records the shape and color of the teeth, allowing for accurate treatment planning and the fabrication of dental restorations.
